Freedom of Speech
Was
called Satan by a person against guns and against all people who
support the 2nd amendment. I told him "God bless you" I also
asked—knowing what is said in Matthew—what does Luke 22:36-37(38?) mean
if it doesn't mean you are allowed to defend yourself. More so, why does
the second part of the 2nd amendment added if you can not own a
firearm. He will brook no argument from me about the first part because I
happen to agree. However he ignores the second half of the 2nd
amendment "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be
infringed" sorry. Yes our forefathers wanted a free army thus they need
the militia, but they also saw what happened when the British attempted
to disarm the Colonies and how the ones in power abused that power.
One last thing before I go, if you think the 2nd amendment does not
cover AR-15's and the like, I would like to point you to this excerpt
from the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to
be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed
by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these
rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers
from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of
Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the
People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government,
laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in
such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and
Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long
established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and
accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to
suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by
abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train
of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a
design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it
is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards
for their future security."
Now I am NOT saying that you can
overthrow the Government just because you don't like how it is run, but
there are reasons you can and should do so. And we can't do that with
only pistols and hunting rifles, the Colonists actually had better
weaponry then the British at the time meaning that sorry facts fit in
with needing an AR-15
